Papermaking Defoamer - Application & Storage Specifications

1. Addition Points

For ease of operation, it is generally added to the white water channel near the paper machine body.It can also be added to the operating side of the white water drip tray at the wire section.For multi-ply forming paper machines, one addition point shall be set for each ply.During surface sizing agent preparation, the defoamer addition point is located in the surface sizing agent preparation tank.

2. Addition Method

Use a metering pump to directly deliver the undiluted solution to the addition point at a fixed flow rate.For defoaming in starch surface sizing, the undiluted defoamer can be added directly.

3. Recommended Dosage

The dosage varies depending on the conditions of each paper machine, generally ranging from 100–500 PPM.

4. Packaging & Storage

Packaging: 200KG plastic drums or 1000KG IBC ton drums.

Transportation: Transported as general chemicals.

Storage: Store in a well-ventilated and dry place to avoid water splashing into the container.

Shelf Life: 12 months.

5. Notes

It is recommended to add the undiluted solution; dilution before addition is not advisable.

Usage Precautions

The undiluted defoamer is recommended for normal application.

Frequent adjustment of the defoamer flow rate is not recommended during normal production.

Avoid controlling the flow rate at the minimum limit during normal production; it should be slightly higher than the minimum level.

Protect from high temperatures in summer and freezing in winter.

Pay attention to the product's expiration date and use it as much as possible within the valid period.

Production conditions vary among different manufacturers. Please conduct comprehensive tests before official production and apply the product only after achieving satisfactory results.

Characteristics of High-Speed Paper Machines

High-speed paper machines generally adopt single-wire, multi-wire formers or twin-wire formers.

They feature high operating speed and large single-machine output.

The white water flow rate is high, and the system closure degree is high, which is prone to foam generation.

A variety of chemicals are added in the wet end; especially the extensive use of dry strength agents, AKD and other additives can easily cause foam.

Waste paper raw materials with recycled fibers are likely to produce foam.

The adoption of acidic sizing in some cases can also induce foam formation.
